This model was launched on the market by Montesa in 1975 as a new version of its top model, the Cota 247, in honor of Ulf Karlson (trial rider) and as a tribute to his victory in the first race of 1974.

This version incorporated technical and aesthetic improvements developed with the collaboration of Karlson.
